Layla is an audio engineer, multi-instrumentalist, podcast producer, and educator based out of Northern California.

She is a staff engineer at Tiny Telephone in Oakland.

She previously engineered and taught at Women’s Audio Mission in San Francisco where she also served as Studio Coordinator, wrote curriculum for Girls on the Mic classes and taught WAM’s “Pro Tools for Absolute Beginners” class. She has also taught at Khan lab School and managed Foothill College’s extensive Music Technology facilities as Studio Supervisor.

A lifelong musician, Layla started in audio working live sound for her local public access TV studio and at multiple UCLA venues including Jan Popper Theater, Schoenberg Hall, and UCLA Radio in-station performances. She has also run sound for Hotel Utah, The Cats, Ashkenaz, and the Athenian School music and theater departments.

Layla produces and performs under the moniker “Layla Joon”. She has composed music for numerous podcasts.

In her free time, Layla loves to unwind by soldering or finding a new instrument to learn.
